We know that packing for camp can be a challenge, and it is an even greater challenge if it is a mystery! We are just over a month away from the start of Junior Camp and so we wanted to give you access to our recommended packing list. We’ll also be posting packing tips over on the blog.

What to bring to Camp Gilgal

Just a note on clothing…we’ll usually have some cold days and nights. There are times, at night especially, when the temperature drops below 50 degrees. Not to worry you, but I added this so that you can better prepare your child.

Required Items:Bible, pen or pencil, sleeping bag or bedding, pillow with pillowcase, towel (2 would be better), flashlight, rain gear, “breathable” laundry bag, insect repellent, sunscreen, lip balm

Clothing:Jeans or sturdy pants, casual shirts/blouses, shorts, two pairs of sneakers, sweat shirts or jackets, one set of good clothes for Shabbat (but not “too good”), swim suit (girls: one piece, no high French cuts; boys: no Speedos or cutoffs), socks and underwear, pajamas, shower shoes

Personal Items: Toothbrush, toothpaste, comb or brush, soap, shampoo, and other items as needed

Optional items:Camera/film, letter-writing items, stamps, watch, extra batteries, slippers, sunglasses, fishing pole, swimming ear plugs, swimming nose plugs, swimming goggles, fanny pack/hip pouch, notebook, hat, long underwear, costumes for skits, canteen/water bottle, alarm clock

What not to bring to Camp: radios, cassette players, CD/mp3 players, gramophones, portable video games, cell phones, tvs or portable dvd players, knives, fireworks, matches/lighters, skateboards or any unsuitable reading material.

Important note: Don’t forget to properly label all personal items (use a waterproof pen or sewn-on name tags). It might also be helpful to send your camper with a list of what they came to camp with so that they can check items off when they are packing to come home.

Shower shoes are required: The bathrooms and showers are in a separate building from the cabins. Shower shoes will be worn to and from the bathhouse and can also be worn in the shower.
